Sora No Manimani [end] and DVD Specials!

In my review for the webzine I wasn’t able to watch the last episode of this series before submitting my article, so I thought it would be good to provide an update to complete my review of the series. To me, the last episode of an anime series is crucial to the success of the series.
Well, for me the ending did not disappoint. As I said in my review, I really wanted the characters to remain in their happy state for the end, rather than having a resolution of the love triangle. I was worried that by doing that the show would lose its meaning, but they provided a nice substitute for that type of thing with the president of the astronomy club, Roma, and his cute friend from the club at another school, Ayumi Omi. Their budding relationship is the focus of much of the final episode, and it is a really romantic story that I enjoyed. I kept wanting to yell out, “Kiss him! Kiss him!” during it, so it must have been good, lol.
I also watched the 2 specials that have been subbed by Koharubi. If you are having trouble finding the DVD Special 2, I recommend that you get it from the group’s site directly. The specials are short, but cute and true to the series. They were like the dessert to this series, because they kept the same happy-go-lucky feeling that the show excudes. I find that this show was truly good to the last drop.
The second special is just a music video, but I liked it anyway. I have to say I thought that there would be a special about their childhood, because that’s what it said during the last episode. I suppose there might be a third special then? I will keep looking just in case.
I did a little research to see if there was going to be a second season, because if there were, I would definitely watch it. It’s nice to have a slice of life anime like this that is unique enough to be interesting and yet retains the appeal of a slice of life anime. I didn’t really find any information, so I’m not sure whether this is the end of the show or not. I will make a new post if I hear anything about a new season. Additionally, if you just can’t wait for more, you could also read the manga, which I hear is also very good.

I finished doing a marathon on this series yesterday, I kinda picked this out of curiosity because I haven’t watched any new anime series of this year apart from the ones I’ve been marathoning the past few weeks.
Overall, this series was great and heart-warming…..its a 9/10 from me. =)
Oh the pairing of Roma and Oumi is great and I just love how Oumi deals with the situation and the best thing about her is that she is not stuck-up as typical rich girls are in most animes. ;)
