mira explains the council and guild system

Welcome to my Fairy Tail anime blog. In episode five Mira explains the council and guild masters league, Erza hits the scene, and a conflict with Eisenwald is brewing over Lullaby.

The episode starts with Mira giving us a complete breakdown on the council and the guild masters. Fairy Tail’s guild master is M.I.A.; that’s when we learn that all guild masters get together and give regular reports to the council. The people on top of the world of magic are the ten members of the council, connected with the government. Their job is to bring order to everything that goes on in the world of magic. If a wizard commits a crime they pass judgment on them. Below them is the organization of guild masters (Guild Master Leagues). They circulate the decrees of the council, smooth out communication between the guilds in the same area, and keep them unified. We also learn of Dark Guilds who usually have their hands in illegal activities and villainous activities. Dark Guilds don’t belong to the league.

erza pounded loke for trying to get some
Erza hits the scene; she’s known as the strongest female wizard in all of fairy tale. She’s kinda like the mother hen and the disciplinary committee of fairy tail all wrapped into one. She’s got to be as tough as nails because she has Natsu and Gray whipped. One minute their ragging and pounding on each other and when she walks in it’s all hugs and brotherly love. We learn that a respectful level of fear is the reason for their change in attitudes; both have gotten a serious pounding from her in the past. But they aren’t the only ones who have gotten their asses handed to them by Erza. One of my top scenes from this episode shows Erza banging on Loke’s noggin (the picture above) after he tried to get some — he also tried to get w/Lucy earlier in the eppy but tucked tail and ran when he heard she was a celestial wizard. Erza asks for Natsu’s and Gray’s help on a mission as probably the strongest team in fairy tale is formed.

erza helps natsu fall asleep
Mira asked Lucy to go along and play baby-sitter to Natsu and Gray. Ezra is under the impression that Lucy has skills and defeated the guerilla mercenaries with just one finger — I’m starting to get the impression that Erza is a bit on the naive side. Natsu has one request for going on the mission. He wants to fight Erza when they get back and she agrees to it. Gray thinks Natsu must be a glutton for punishment — personally I would love to see those two throw down. After that show of bravado and big talk, Natsu’s problems with transportation kicks in, immediately docking him some cool points. To ease his pain Erza gives Natsu a mean sucker punch to the gut — obviously she was out of sleeping pills.

bad guys ready to stir up some trouble
Erza finally explains the mission. Their opponents are the dark guild, Eisenwald. They intend to do some evil deeds with a magic called “Lullaby.” The guys that Lucy, Natsu, and Gray fought previously (episode 4) were refugees from Eisenwald. The shadow from last episode that snatched them up was a member of Eisenwald’s main force. Erza speculates they were taken out probably because they didn’t want their plans being leaked to the public — lackeys usually run their mouths especially when you get a few drinks in their system. Erza flashbacks to a village where Eisenwald members were talking about finding the place where Lullaby is hidden; the problem was there seemed to be a seal on it. An Eisenwald member named Kageyama says he can take care of the seal and get Lullaby in three days. Erza begins to talk about a guy named Erigor; he is the top ace of Eisenwald. He’s nicknamed “shinigami” since he only takes assassination requests. Assassination requests are banned by the council but Eisenwald wanted money. So six years ago they were thrown out of the Wizard’s Guild League.

a flute shaped like a skull with three eyes... is that lullaby
The gang forgets to wake up Natsu and leaves him on the train when they get off. Kageyama happens to be on the train and he has a confrontation with Natsu. They greet by Kageyama planting his boot in Natsu’s face and trash talking the Fairy Tail guild. Natsu gets the better of the confrontation and meets back up with the rest of the crew. Natsu describes the item that Kageyama was carrying as a flute shaped like a skull w/three eyes. Lucy calls that item “Lullaby” the song of curse or magic of death. She continues on to explain that one of the forbidden magics is the curse of death. Which is a black-magic curse that saps the life out of the person it’s cast upon. She says Lullaby is even worse. At the end of the eppy we see Erigor and his cronies reuniting with Kageyama — he’s got Lullaby in tow. Erigor explains that Lullaby was originally nothing but a tool used for death curses. But the great black wizard Zeref transformed it even further into a demon flute. And all those who hear the sound of the flute have the life sucked out of them. It’s called the mass-death curse magic, Lullaby. Erza, Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and Happy hop in the magic four-wheeler in hot pursuit of Eisenwald.

It looks like they’ve completely changed this arc but they might keep the original premise but just set differently. Senpai, do you read the manga ??

  2. Senpai Said,

No, I was going to start reading the manga at one point this summer but I decided I’ll just follow the anime for now. Plus I rather not be spoiled by future plot since I’ll be doing this blog weekly.

    YOU HAVE A BLOG?!! lol
Until now I did not know these were blogs. I went to search for your blog since you were disappointed I didn’t comment. Don’t worry I will be checking daily now to see updates :P

  4. Katsuri Said,

I absolutely loved the part where the two band together as soon as Erza shows up. xD

Is it just me or does the shadows guy remind you of Shikamaru?

  5. Senpai Said,

@ Katsuri, I actually had the same thought when I saw Kageyama use those shadows. I was going to use it as one of my random screenshots w/some witty comment but I got lazy. That definitely would have been a better random screen than some of the others.

@ Julez, somehow I sense sarcasm :P when you say you’ll check daily; it is a weekly blog after all (though ppl might make various comments throughout the week sooo…). But ya know you should check the front page daily for new updates anyways. I still can’t believe you didn’t know that some of these posts were blogs?! You never clicked on them, maybe?
